Welcome to Lacon Childe School
Year 12 Presentation evening
CELEBRATING SUCCESS
TEACHING AND LEARNING
Year 9 have produced some excellent work in RE and Worldviews through a silent debate activity. They engaged thoughtfully with the statement “Is breaking the rules ever justifiable?” and demonstrated strong critical thinking throughout. Students were able to make clear and well-reasoned links to key philosophical ideas such as Natural Moral Law and Utilitarianism, showing an understanding of how different ethical frameworks might approach rule‑breaking. They also connected their arguments to Christian and Buddhist teachings, highlighting how religious worldviews influence moral decision‑making. Their contributions showed maturity, depth of thought, and a growing confidence in applying philosophical and religious concepts to real‑life ethical questions. #LaconMe #Creativity #Commitment ...
Congratulations to our A1 winners for Thursdays focus value #creativity. It has been a brilliant week, where we have seen thousands of rewards given to our brilliant students. Well done to everyone. At the end of the day today, we will count up the total number of A1s, for our big Friday draw! Creativity at Lacon means we develop the literacy skills on which all further learning depends, cultivate creativity by providing a broad base of academic knowledge that students need to be properly creative. The knowledge we deliver is powerful in that it changes students’ perceptions, values and understanding. Students are encouraged to ask questions and explore alternate explanations. Students are asked to be expressive, share ideas and to think outside of the box. Exploration and experimentation is encouraged. A willingness to demonstrate infectious enthusiasm for their learning and to be brave when experiencing new things. #Creativity #LaconMe #LoveLacon ...
World Book Day at Lacon
It was great to see Lacon students celebrating World Book Day with ‘a book and a bake’. We chatted about books and swapped some of our favourite stories with each other over a cup of hot chocolate and homemade goodies! English teachers also shared some extracts from their favourite stories with their classes to encourage reading for pleasure.
In the National Year of Reading we are keen to spread the word that reading is not only essential to children’s development and life chances but also something to do for fun and relaxation and great for mental wellbeing. #lovelacon #creativity #appreciatethearts

Congratulations to our Wednesday winners, who were recognised for demonstrating our value #Integrity. At Lacon, integrity means: We treat others with respect and honesty. We take care of our environment and utilise knowledge and understanding wisely. We nurture our students so that they become young adults of principle and character who support each other in their quest for excellence. Students are encouraged to always do the right thing even when no one is watching and take ownership of their actions both positive and negative. We want students to be open minded and respect the views and opinions of others, calling out negativity and accepting that we are all different and appreciate and learn from our differences. ‘Be an upstander not a bystander’ #LaconMe #Integrity. ...
