It is with pleasure that I welcome you to Lacon Childe School, an 11-16 school set in the beautiful South Shropshire market town of Cleobury Mortimer.

We are a school with a keen sense of community where staff and students work closely together to make sure that the school is a stimulating and happy place to grow and learn. We want our students to have a well-developed character, having high expectations and aspirations of themselves, with the confidence, determination, and resilience to know that they will make a valuable contribution to the wider community.

We are ambitious for all our students and support them to be the best that they can be. We have high academic expectations and want all our students to leave at the end of their time with us with the academic qualifications that will allow them to achieve success in their chosen pathway.

We are committed to providing the highest education experience, and have a well-planned curriculum, delivered by expert teachers, to support and challenge our students. We believe that education should not be confined to the classroom, and we aim to provide our students with a variety of diverse experiences to grow and develop, allowing them to find their place.

We are ‘more than just a school,’ our students are ambitious, enthusiastic and are determined to have high expectations of themselves. They demonstrate their commitment, through their excellent conduct and hard work.

Lacon Childe School GCSE Results Announcement 2025

Following the release of the GCSE results this morning Lacon Childe Year 11 students and staff are celebrating. Our students are now preparing for the next stage in their education, with the majority going to sixth form colleges whilst others go onto complete an apprenticeship or into employment. We are extremely proud of the achievements of all our students and wish them success in the future, whatever path they have chosen.

Individual successes include Phoebe Rogers, James Saunders, Flo Fierek, Nicholas Austin-Davies, Theony Packard and Maisie Allenby who all achieved at total of 27 grade 9s and 22 grade 8s between them, a fantastic set of results.

Head of School Rachel Croxton-Broome said, “The determination of our students to do well is always an inspiration to the staff that work with them.  Today our students have been rewarded for their commitment and hard work with an excellent set of GCSE results.  Of course, the support of all our parents/carers is invaluable and I would like to thank them for working alongside us.  I would also like to thank all our hard-working staff, who, as always, they have gone the extra mile to make sure that our students receive the education that they deserve.  It was a pleasure to be able to speak to so many Year 11 students this morning and hear about their exciting plans for the future.  All the staff at Lacon Childe School wish them good luck and we look forward to hearing about their future successes, well done Year 11!”

Lacon Childe has a dual use sports and fitness centre managed by Teme Leisure which has a range of outdoor and indoor facilities that the public can use. Facilities include:
